Home to over eight million residents, New York City is a bustling metropolis that offers a rich arts scene, convenient public transportation, diverse restaurants, shopping centers, and more. Often called NYC or simply NY, this city is said to be one that never sleeps, primarily because you will never run out of things to do when visiting. From Grand Central Station to the Empire State Building, NYC has tons of picturesque locations that truly make it one of the most iconic places in the world. As such, the city is a major tourist destination and a popular venue to host memorable events, especially weddings. 

It should come as no surprise that many people dream of getting married in NYC. Whether it is the many films that feature the city or simply the stories you heard from people, there are several reasons why you may want to have your wedding there. No matter the destination, however, you will go through one common challenge: finding the perfect dress. Expect yourself to go through tens and hundreds of wedding dresses in NYC before you say yes, but that is a natural part of the wedding planning process. 

At times, you may feel pressured about finding a dress for fear of choosing the wrong one. Dress hunting, however, does not have to be stressful, and there are many things you can do to help make a choice easier. 

Plan a Budget

Before you start trying on dresses, come up with a realistic budget that you are comfortable spending. Planning can help you limit your dress selection and prevent you from looking at dresses beyond your spending capacity. After all, the last thing you want is to find the perfect dress but not be able to get it due to the price. Remember that you also have to consider alterations and shipping in your expenses, so the price tag should not be your sole determinant when creating a budget.

You read it right–your mood matters. If you start the day feeling off, chances are you will not be able to look for a dress properly. As such, take some time to get in the mood before you hit the racks. Pamper yourself with a manicure or grab a coffee in your favorite spot. Essentially, do anything to make you feel excited about what is to come.
