Screen Recording on iPhone Only
If you’re on the latest version of Apple’s operating system, iOS, Apple makes it incredibly easy to capture a screen recording on your iPhone.
Step 1
The first step is to open the settings on your iPhone. Settings can be found by opening the main page with all of your apps and pulling down. In the search bar that appears you can search for “Settings”. Under the “Applications” header a square with gears in it will appear. Click on this.
You can also access settings by looking for the app that has the gray or silver gears and clicking directly on that.
Step 2
Once in settings, you may need to pull down on the screen to access the search bar. In the search bar, type “Control Center”. Click on “Control Center”.
Next, click “Customize Controls”.
Now, you are able to use the plus button to the left of the apps under the header “More Controls” to add an app. Press the green plus next to “Screen Recording”. You can now use the three lines to the right of the apps under the header “Include” the drag and rearrange. Click the red minus sign to the left of the items that you don’t want to include.
Click “Back”.
Step 3
Pull down on the uppermost right-hand corner of your phone’s screen. Here is your control center. You can access music, rotation locks, night mode, and anything else that you added in the control center area in your phone’s settings.
To begin your screen recording, you’ll want to press the unfilled circle with the white button in it.
You will see a “3, 2, 1” countdown and then the button will turn red. Navigate to the material that you want to record and when you are done recording swipe down on the uppermost right-hand corner of your phone’s screen, and tap the recording button again.
The recording will now indicate that it’s finished by a little pop up at the top of the screen.
Another way to stop the screen recording without hitting the record button in the control center is to tap on the red bubble that surrounds the time on your phone while you record. If you tap that, a pop up will appear asking if you want to stop the recording. Click “Stop” and then find the finished recording in your “Photos”.
Step 4
Now, navigate to the “Photos” app on your iPhone. This can be found by going to the main screen with all of your apps and pulling down to access the search feature. From there, type “Photos” and click on the white square with the rainbow flower that appears.
In your “Recents” collection, the most recent photo/video will be your screen recording.
Tap on it to view it. From here you can also edit it, share it, or delete it.
Screen Recording With Audio
Your iPhone will automatically record sound that is coming from your phone, however, if you’re trying to screen record and narrate something, it won’t capture your voice.

Screen Recording on iPhone With Mac
If you have a Mac and an iPhone, you can plug your phone into your Mac to capture the audio as well.
Step 1
Connect your iPhone to your Mac using your lightning cable.
On your Mac, launch Quicktime Player. To find Quicktime Player, locate the small magnifying glass in the top right-hand corner and click on it. You can now type in “Quick Time Player” and click on the application that appears.
Step 2
Once in Quicktime Player, locate and click on “File” and then choose “New Movie Recording”.
From here, click on the arrow located to the right of the record button and you should see your iPhone as a choice. To record phone audio you can change the microphone option to your phone instead of your computer or another mic.
Note
Not all apps will allow you to record. Apps like Netflix or Hulu are pretty smart and won’t allow you to capture their content. Additionally, if you change your phone orientation from horizontal to vertical or vice versa, your recording will automatically stop.

Recording your screen can be very beneficial if you want to show how to use an app, or demonstrate gameplay. The videos that you capture can be edited in the iPhone by heading to your “Photos”, click on the selected recording, and then tap “Edit” in the upper right-hand corner.
You can upload videos directly to YouTube from your iPhone by downloading the YouTube app from the App Store. Once you open the app and sign in, click on the little camera button in the upper right-hand corner, allow Youtube access, and then upload your video from your photos.
